The Soul of Gifting

Postcard from Greece: A Reflection on Soulful Rituals & Conscious Gifting.
Because true giving is about the intention, the connection, and the meaning it carries
I am writing from a café in Athens, the city humming softly in the late afternoon light. In the distance, the Acropolis glows against the afternoon sky, and I am quietly reflecting on the incredible journey that’s now behind us; the cities, the islands, the people, the slow rhythm of days measured by sea swims and long late lunches and late night strolls…
We have drifted through magical laneways and markets from Barcelona to Majorca, from Paros to Milos and Santorini, taking it all in; observing the art of everyday beauty and the soulful rituals that surround living and gifting in these cultures. What began as a long holiday has become a quiet masterclass in intention: observing how people give, why they give, and what it means when they do it with heart and purpose.
True gifting is not a transaction. It’s an exchange of intention, a story and a heartfelt sentiment; it is as much a reflection of the giver as it is of the receiver.
Gifting with Soul
In Greece, the art of giving runs deep. It is woven through mythology, hospitality, and heart. Gifts are not just things; they’re gestures. We’ve been welcomed with warmth, ouzo, and laughter over shared tables.
There’s a Greek word that captures this spirit beautifully - filoxenia. It translates simply as ‘friend of a stranger,’ but it means so much more. It is the instinct to offer what you have, to make someone feel seen, welcome, and cared for, even if they’ve only just crossed your path. It is generosity without transaction, a way of giving that’s grounded in humanity. The same quiet spirit we see echoed in the art of thoughtful gifting.
Somewhere in those slow, golden hours, we found inspiration for Hunted + Co renewed. We wandered through countless boutiques, jewellery ateliers, and design stores; our evening ritual often ending with a late-night gelato or fresh hot cinnamon Loukoumades drowning in honey. Pure bliss!
As lovely as it was, it affirmed what we already knew: our jewellery and gifting collections more than hold their own. They’re beautifully crafted, timeless, and, to be honest, incredibly well priced for their quality. Local store owners often stopped us to ask where my Silver Metallic Tote, Snakeskin Pouch, Fox and Leo Sunglasses Case, Stolen Girlfriends Tiny Heart Earrings or Brigitte Sunglasses by Cardsome were from. It was a lovely nod from fellow accessory design lovers.
We’re Not Here for the Souvenirs
We didn’t collect trinkets or pottery. Instead, we brought home Komboloi Beads for Alex’s uncle, a few local treats, local organic skincare/makeup and some linen dresses that carry the scent of salt air and will remind us of our endless Euro summer.
We seek beautiful objects that last, sustainable gifts, and pieces that tell a story. Everything we choose is made to travel well, age gracefully, and be gifted forward when the time feels right.
Too busy to wrap your gifts? Let us handle this for you. We are currently offering complimentary wrapping on orders over $100 till year-end, with beautiful card options available. That means one less thing for you to worry about this Christmas. Get ready early, as we know how busy this time of year can get!
From the Mediterranean, with Love 🖤
Now, as the sun sinks low over Athens, I am reminded why we do what we do at Hunted + Co. Real gifting isn’t seasonal, it’s ritual. A quiet I thought of you that lingers long after the ribbon is undone.
This journey has been a love letter to the art of giving. To finding beauty in craftsmanship, to gifting with meaning, and to surrounding our lives with beautiful things that last.
As we pack to head home, I know this is somewhere we hope to return to one day….
Until next time,
From Greece, with love.
